Charles Dougherty KC and Marie Louise Kinsler KC will consider issues relating to jurisdiction in multi-party claims, focussing on parallel proceedings and the rules governing jurisdiction against additional defendants in the context of both the EU and non-EU rules.
This will include consideration of the recent decision in JSC Commercial Bank Privatbank v Kolomoisky [2019] EWCA Civ 1708 in which the Court of Appeal examined controversial issues relating to parallel proceedings and claims against multiple defendants.

He is recommended as a leading silk in 7 categories in the legal directories, and is specifically recognised for his private international law expertise. He is an assistant editor of European Civil Practice (Sweet & Maxwell, 2nd ed) and a director of the Bar Mutual.

Marie Louise specialises in private international law and EU law. She has a particular reputation for appellate work involving novel points of law. In recent years, she has appeared in 5 cases in the Supreme Court including in the landmark cases of Vedanta Resources plc v Lungowe and Brownlie v Four Seasons Holdings. Alongside her practice, Marie Louise lectures on a part-time basis on private international law at Cambridge University.
