Cost: Free
CPD: 1.5 hours

Helen Wolstenholme will consider the issue of apportionment between co-defendants, looking at section 2(1) of the Civil Liability (Contribution) Act 1978 and the guiding principles which can be derived from the case law in this notoriously fact-sensitive area.

Sam Stevens will explore the situations in which the settlement of a claim against one defendant can impact an action against another defendant. In particular, he will consider the Jameson v. CEGB [2000] 1 AC 455 and Heaton v. AXA [2002] 2 AC 329 line of authorities.

Austin Mahler will address procedure and costs in multi-defendant cases, focusing on QOCS, the battle over costs between co-defendants, and some things to bear in mind when considering separate contribution proceedings.

We would be delighted if you could join us. We will start promptly at 6pm. The seminar will last about 1 hour and will be followed by drinks and canapés at 7pm.

This is a free event which qualifies for 1.5 CPD hours.

If you wish to attend this event please respond to Deborah Francis at seminars@2tg.co.uk.
