We offer some of the best funded, best structured and most enjoyable pupillages at the Bar to up to three candidates each year. We offer pupillage only to those we think have real potential to become 2TG tenants. There is no quota, so you are not in competition with your fellow pupils for tenancy.
Our Pupillage Award for 2013 is £60,000, comprising
*our experience is that second six pupils earn significantly more
During your pupillage, we ensure through training and assessment that you learn the skills and demonstrate the performance required to secure an offer of tenancy. At regular intervals we monitor your progress through formal reviews with your pupil supervisors and with you, enabling any issues or problems to be resolved at an early stage.
You will have 3 supervisors during your pupillage and will also work for and with other 2TG barristers. You will experience as much of the variety of our work as possible during your pupillage year.
Advocacy is one of a barrister's core skills. Training with pupil supervisors is supplemented by advocacy excercises and practical drafting sessions. Our pupils spend a high proportion of their Second Six on their feet in court, running their own cases.
2TG has a wide range of areas of expertise in civil and commercial work. We encourage pupils and new tenants to take advantage of the choice of work and make informed decisions about specialisation with the benefit of practical experience. Some practice areas are interlinked and many barristers practice in more than one area of expertise.
Applications are accepted via the Pupillage Portal. For more details about our recruitment process and what we look for in a pupil click "How to apply" .
We welcome applications from outstanding Third Six candidates who demonstrate an interest in one or more of 2TG's areas of expertise. Please apply by email to the Pupillage Administrator.
Mini pupillages are a good way of experiencing life at 2TG. They are usually 2 or 3 day visits. You do not have to do a mini pupillage in order to apply for pupillage at 2TG but we encourage you to do so. For more details click on Mini Pupillage
