Conclusion of Kenyan Emergency Group Litigation

Posted: 22/11/2018

The Kenyan Emergency Group Litigation finally came to an end on the morning of 21 November 2018, when Stewart J made an order dismissing all claims, having handed down judgment in favour of the defendant, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in the second test case to be heard.

A team from 2 Temple Gardens, including Clare Brown and Niazi Fetto, worked on the case for a substantial proportion of its long life, instructed by the successful defendant. The international group claim was remarkable for its size and complexity: 41,000 claimants, 25 test cases, 16 reserved judgments and 250 court days over nearly 5 years.
