We are pleased to announce that Marie Louise Kinsler QC has been appointed as the National Rapporteur for the UK and Ireland for the European Commission’s review into the application of Rome II in the Member States.
The review, which is being conducted by the British Institute for International and Comparative Law on behalf of the Commission, will look at how Rome II has operated in practice over the past 10 years since it entered into force. The review will analyse all areas covered by the Regulation including financial market torts, corporate abuses against human rights, the impact of artificial intelligence on Rome II and the interplay between Rome II and the rules on defamation and data protection. This appointment recognises Marie Louise’s expertise on Rome II and private international law.
Benjamin Phelps is assisting with the national report.
