David Thomas and Isabel Barter will provide an update on important recent solicitors’ negligence cases concerning these three central themes which affect all professional negligence practitioners’ work.

David will discuss recent cases concerning scope of retainer issues (including Cathal Anthony Lyons v Fox Williams LLP and Caliendo v Mishcon de Reya) as well as considering the effects that the anticipated Supreme Court decision in Gabriel v Little may have on the issue of remoteness in solicitors’ negligence claims.

Isabel will explore the question of mitigation, considering two recent solicitors’ negligence cases – Bacciottini v Gotelee & Goldsmith and LSREF III Wight Ltd v Gateley.
