We have a distinguished panel of speakers who will cover an array of topics, with a particular focus on areas of current interest to professional negligence practitioners and their clients. The afternoon will be introduced and moderated by Charles Dougherty KC, who is described by Chambers UK as ‘supremely intelligent’ and ‘a brilliant advocate’. Highlights will include Bob Moxon Browne KC’s exposition of the development of the law on loss of a chance since his appearance in the seminal case of Allied Maples, and a talk by Andrew Miller KC (a widely acclaimed mediator) on the top tips for practitioners engaged in the mediation of professional negligence cases. Other topics to be covered will include: expert evidence; recent developments following Hughes-Holland (David Thomas); solicitors’ liabilities arising from their opponents’ errors (Sam Stevens); a close look at claims against auditors following Assetco v Grant Thornton (Jessica van der Meer); and financial services firms’ liabilities for their dishonest agents (Lucas Fear-Segal).
Registration is from 1.45pm and the seminar will commence promptly at 2pm.
A drinks reception will follow at 5.00pm.
