Tim Killen acts in first case before the Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts, Employment Division

Posted: 02/05/2018

The Abu Dhabi Global Market Courts (ADGM Courts) handed down judgment yesterday in the matter of Berardo v Stumpf Energy Ltd [2018] ADGMCFI 1, which is understood to be the first ever judgment of the ADGM Courts, Employment Division (and the second ever judgment of any division of the ADGM Courts).

The hearing concerned an application brought by the Defendant to stay proceedings before the ADGM Courts pending the resolution of a criminal trial before the onshore courts in Abu Dhabi. The Judge determined that the Defendant’s application was premature, and adjourned it with a costs award in the Claimant’s favour.

Tim Killen, instructed by Al Tamimi & Co, acts for the Claimant in the proceedings.

Tim has significant experience of cases and arbitrations in and relating to the Middle East, and regularly acts in cases in the DIFC Courts in Dubai.
