Thanks to all those who attended, with particular thanks to the judging panel: Lord Lloyd-Jones; Lord Burrows; Dame Victoria Sharp, President of the King’s Bench Division; and Lady Justice Nicola Davies.

For further information regarding the competition, please view The Times 2TG Moot Homepage.

Now in its 10th year, this prestigious national competition is run in conjunction with The Times Newspaper had received over 120 entries to the 2024-25 Moot when the application deadline passed on 5th June 2024.

The competition is open to all students in tertiary education in the United Kingdom and is part of 2TG’s commitment to social mobility and the removal of barriers to accessing the Bar. Applicants have a unique opportunity to develop their oral and written advocacy and moot before Senior Advocates and members of the Judiciary at the highest level. All finalists receive cash prizes and mini-pupillages at 2TG.

Two of our Junior tenants, Kate Legh and James Partridge, who are now well established barristers of six years’ call, joined Chambers after participating successfully in the 2018 Moot. They both found the process and experience of taking part in the event invaluable.

The Times 2TG Moot not only continues to grow in popularity among participating students, but also among clients and contacts of the set who have the opportunity to attend the final of the competition, which is now hosted by The Times Newspapers at their fabulous News UK offices at London Bridge.

At 2TG we are committed to making a difference and we take our social responsibilities very seriously. In addition to The Moot, which is our flagship ‘access to the Bar’ event, we run and participate in a programme of initiatives designed to support under-represented applicants; we work regularly with a number of local schools and charities and this includes having an ongoing partnership with an Academy school in inner London to whom we provide work experience opportunities and advice to students interested in a career at the Bar.

We also participate in the COMBAR mentoring scheme for under-represented applicants and in the Bar Placement Week organised by the Social Mobility Foundation which allows talented young people from non-traditional backgrounds to gain an insight into the profession.
