Our insurance group handles all aspects of non-marine insurance and reinsurance disputes, including jurisdiction and choice of law issues, policy construction and coverage, scope of indemnity, effectiveness and scope of notifications and claims, non-disclosure, misrepresentation, aggregation, co-insurance and fraud and avoidance of cover for non-disclosure and misrepresentation.
We act for and against insurers and reinsurers and deal with all commercial policies, including those covering liability (management liability – such as D&O – employers’, public and product liability, and professional indemnity), property, financial and contingency risks, aviation risks and construction all risks insurance. Our team also has a particularly excellent reputation for advising on niche areas such as life and health insurance, including critical illness and PHI cover, and specialist cover including bloodstock insurance and terrorism insurance. Our involvement may range from policy interpretation to the robust cross examination necessary to defeat a fraudulent claim.
The past two years have brought a significant volume of work in relation to COVID especially in relation to business interruption, event cancellation, delay to start up, travel, life insurance, private health and supply chain interruption.
We are recognised as achieving innovative, expeditious and commercial solutions, both in the traditional role of counsel and as part of multidisciplinary teams. We can work in French, Swedish and German.
