Construction

At 2TG, we have a long history in the Construction sector with a domestic and international practice that sees us advising on complex construction, engineering and infrastructure disputes around the world.

Our specialist barristers have experience of claims in the Technology and Construction Court, adjudication (both statutory and contractual), and construction-related international arbitration, including under JCT/CIMAR, LCIA, DIAC, ICC and ad hoc rules. We are also experts in many standard form construction contracts such as JCT forms, NEC, the FIDIC forms of contract (red book and yellow book), ICE, RIBA, project partnering agreements and bespoke contracts.

We act for a wide range of contractors, employers, professionals, funders, insurers and suppliers in litigation worldwide relating to large-scale construction projects, such as ports, stadiums, power stations, offices, social infrastructure, commercial developments and road networks. A number of our barristers are admitted in international jurisdictions and act on matters arising in Europe, the Gulf region, Africa, South America, Asia and the USA.

We are instructed on cases including claims for delay and disruption and defect, as well as those arising under the Defective Premise Act 1972. We are well known for acting on a wide range of cladding and other building defects disputes, including those relating to defective designs and sub-standard workmanship. In this regard we are sought out for our related expertise in complementary areas such as property damage, professional negligence and insurance, including construction all risks claims, where we have a market leading reputation.

Our barristers are particularly well placed to deal with complex issues of technical evidence and issues concerning the insurance of construction projects and we have detailed experience of quantity surveying, programming and forensic accountancy evidence.

We act for insurers in subrogated recovery claims, including for a main party in the Grenfell litigation, and for the indemnity insurers of construction professionals.

Members of Chambers are also available to sit as arbitrators and adjudicators. In addition to this we are home to one of the leading KC mediators in the construction sector, Andrew Miller KC.
